Of Presidents and Leaders
Originally created to honor America’s first president, George Washington, today is Presidents’ Day. As with any national holiday, it’s simply a day off from work – for many. Although not quite 40% of American workers are actually given the day off. As usual, we at Vendorship search for some reflection of the day – the moment – and share with you to pass on to others:
“Make no little plans and keep working on your plans.” Truman-33
“It is hard to fail, but it is worse, never to have tried.” Roosevelt-26
“There are no problems we cannot solve together.” Johnson-36
“It is common sense to take a method and try it. If it fails, admit it frankly and try another. But above all, try something.” Roosevelt-32
“The greatest leader is not necessarily the one who does the greatest things. He is the one that gets the people to do the greatest things.” Reagan-40
“The test of leadership is not to put greatness into humanity, but to elicit it, for the greatness is already there.” Buchanan-15
And finally, as we all pay solemn tribute to Carter-39, now in final hospice care at home in Georgia, ponder these words from our leadership team to yours: “True, effective leadership, is never a response to desires of power. Toward every end, leadership is a measure of making others – even strangers – great.” Team Vendorship
